Screen Talents Lost Too Soon: Actresses Who Passed in Their 20s

The genius of the actors whose career was cut short prematurely also lends its hand in the history of the movie and TV industry. These were actresses aged 20 years to 29 years who succumbed in producing a memorable role, projects that had to be done and an impression left on the audience. Their presence can be traced back more than ten years and genres, including silent movie and the new television and still their work is subject to revisions among the fans and the historians.

It is their own names, of a sort of artistic heritage of their own, which they carry on the film reels and on the production notes, and on the photographic archives. Their time in the limelight is not very extensive, but their impacts are felt.

1. Jean Harlow

Saratoga is a film that took the life of the brightest star of the 1930s the beautiful Jean Harlow who succumbed to uremic poisoning at age 26. She scored hits in her resume in terms of Red Dust, Dinner at Eight, Bombshell and has been working with some of the most established directors such as Victor Fleming and George Cukor. She shot her last film through the help of a body look-alike and even though it is not by any means a simple task to shoot, it was one of her big films and the people needed to see her on the screen at least once.

2. Sharon Tate

Sharon Tate was a 26 year old murder victim of Los Angeles when she was eight months pregnant in August of 1969. She was the star of Valley of the Dolls, Fearless Vampire Killers and Don’t Make Waves. She was a model, TV and even had future film projects to be done at the time she was dying.

3. Aaliyah

This was what happened to Aaliyah who was murdered in an airplane accident in 2001 in the Bahamas after she shot one of her music videos. She also did a tour in Romeo Must Die and was also done Queen of the Damned after her death other than her music career. She was also discussing additional film roles and her musical productions in the field of soundtrack was an intermediate of both music and film industries.

4. Dominique Dunne

The actress portraying Poltergeist is Dominique Dunne who was killed in1982 in her home in the West Hollywood at the age of 22 due to assault. She had appeared in programs like Fame, CHiPs and Hill street blues among others and the rest of her television performances were to be carried out after her death.

5. Thelma Todd

Thelma Todd passed on in 1935 at age 29 due to poisoning by carbon monoxide. She is a short and feature comedy star actress that appeared with the Marx Brothers in Monkey Business and Horse Feats. She had to run the Sidewalk Café owned by Thelma Todd which was one of the most known cafes in Hollywood of the 1930s besides acting.

6. Peg Entwistle

In 1932, a 24-year-old actress called Peg Entwistle who had worked in Thirteen Women succumbed to death. Her stage work at New York Theatre Guild received favorable critiques and she made her way to Hollywood, as the first and the only acting credit was marked with other actors such as Irene Dunne, Myrna Loy among others.

7. Judy Tyler

Judy Tyler died in a road accident in the year 1957 just after the Jailhouse Rock she did with Elvis Presley in the year 1957 and was only 24 years old. She had appeared on Howdy Doody after appearing on Pipe Dream on Broadway, and with slight adjustment could move on the screen and stage to the screen and revert to the screen.

8. Jessica Falkholt

Jessica Falkholt was an Australian actress who was killed in a car accident in January 2018 and she was 29 years old. She also featured in a couple of TV and short movies as she appeared in Home and Away and a short movie, Harmony along with regular auditions during the period of her demise.

9. Carole Landis

Carole Landis died at 29 in 1948. She had top-billed films in Topper Returns, Moon Over Miami and I Wake Up Screaming, as well as the USO tour in World War II. She also had musical comedy and noir studio and junior engagements.

10. Jiah Khan

The actor, Jiah Khan, with whom Amitabh Bachchan has starred in Nishabd died in an accident in 2013 and was aged 25. She has also acted in the films and music videos in another film Ghajini and house full.

11. Skye McCole Bartusiak

Skye McCole Bartusiak passed on in 2014 at the age of 21. Her first appearances are The Patriot and Don’t Say a Word where she started as the child actress and subsequently in independent and television series like 24 and Law and Order: SVU.

12. Barbara La Marr

Barbara La Marr was one of the actresses of the silent age; she died in 1926, she was 29. She usually would have presented herself in the adventure genre, and historical genre in the two plays, The Three Musketeers and The Prisoner of Zenda. In 1920s, she was become a star attraction to Fox and Metro studios.

13. Olive Thomas

She died on 1920 in a crash in Paris at the age of 25 due to the poisoning by the use of bichloride of mercury. Being a former dancer at the Ziegfeld Follies, she belonged to films, including The Flapper and upstairs and down, and was arrested several times prior to her death last year.

14. Virginia Rappe

Virginia Rappe broke the silence and passed away in 1921 at age 26 when she took ill in one of her parties in San Francisco and this prompted mass litigation publicity. She was a model/ actress and had appeared in certain movies including the Paradise Garden.

15. Ruan Lingyu

Ruan Lingyu, who was one of the brightest actresses of the Chinese silent movies, died in 1935, at the age of 24. She has acted in The Goddess, Little Toys and New Women and her films have stood the test of time in the Chinese film history.
