Las Vegas loses its grip: 8 pressures changing the trip people want

Las Vegas continues to attract crowds, but the figures have ceased to be impolite in appearance. The city recorded 38.5 million visitors in 2025, a post-recovery low point that quietly equates to what many travelers characterize in more personal terms, which is that the trip is less worth justifying.

What changed is not one thing. It is the piling up of things, the friction at the check-in, the exhaustion on the sidewalks, the heat that hangs onto one after sunset and the feeling that the reward is not as clear as it once was.

1. Value calculation is less time consuming

The city of Las Vegas was constructed under a notion that tourists can spend money recklessly without remorse over it. That bargain has thinned. To tourists considering going back, it is frequently less what Las Vegas has to offer, but rather what it is seeking in return.
